1) dlvr.it is a website we've been using for a while now. It grabs RSS feeds from a wide variety of sources and then auto-updates our Twitter feed (and other social media feeds lik Tumblr, Facebook pages, etc.) with content from the RSS feed. You can control how often it posts, blacklist posts based on keywords, add your own text before or after the headline and link you're posting, and even set the exact time you want a post to go out. The service integrates nicely with bit.ly and other URL shortening services and also includes basic analytics.
We use social media a LOT here at Geekbauchery HQ, and we have some tools that we can't live without. Some of the tools help make sure we're sending out important Tweets at just the right time, some of them gather RSS feeds and help us post content regularly, and some are so badass that they can help us do 101 different things in a few minutes, that would normally take hours! Here are our top 4 (we were too lazy to come up with 5) favorite social media tools and how we use them! 2) Crowdbooster is service that shows you analytics based on impressions, total reach, engagement, and more. The features we use most are the scheduled tweets and the table that shows us how many people our tweets are reaching. Crowdbooster can also be used with Facebook pages to show you some basic analytics, but we use it strictly for its awesome Twitter integration. 3) SocialBro is a great app that we just came across a few weeks ago. It's one of the more powerful social media analytics tools we've seen, and it works cross-platform using Adobe Air. There is also a version available for Google Chrome. Some of the features of SocialBro are the ability to see your community in map form, manage Twitter lists, browse your community to see all sorts of information about your followers and who you're following, check who isn't following you back, a best time to Tweet feature (with Buffer integration), and a powerful dashboard that gives you an overall view of your community. 4) ifttt might very well be the best web service we've ever come across. It stands for If This Then That and the concept, while simple, is amazingly powerful. ifttt lets you put the Internet to work for you by creating tasks that fit the simple structure of IF (something happens on the Internet) THEN (do this task!) So, for instance, if one of our porn affiliate RSS feeds gets updated, we create a task that says, IF (Porn Affiliate RSS Updates) THEN (Tweet RSS Link To Twitter Using Buffer) Not only can you do things with RSS, Buffer, and Twitter, but you can also include other services in the formula like Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Evernote, Flickr, Foursquare, and a whole bunch of other services. If there's one tool in this blog post that you MUST explore right away, it's ifttt! |
