There’s “American Idol” for singers, there’s “So You Think You Can Dance” for Dancers, and now, there’s a new iPhone and iPAD app for Artists called “ America’s Top Artist”. This is the first Art competition to hit the iPhone and iPad scene, and the founding company Draw Art LLC has just formally announced the $10,000 prize that will go to the winner. The app allows artists from all over the country to upload their art into the “America’s Top Artist” competition. Once approved, the art appears in the “Main Gallery” where all users and art lovers can rate each piece from 1 to 5 stars. The highest rated pieces then get moved to the “Top Rated” section via an algorithm that updates the app every hour. Co-founder and artist, Nicholai Khan, says “We created this app because we know how many unknown but highly talented artists are out there. Now all these artists can upload their art, and even if they don’t win the $10,000 prize, they can gain massive exposure by having thousands of art lovers view their art in the app." With their name above their piece of art, and with the sharing functions we’ve included for each piece to potentially go viral, unknown artists now have the opportunity to become overnight superstars.” The “America’s Top Artist” iPhone and iPAD app is free to download, and users can rate and vote for their favorite pieces of art. Artists pay just $0.99 for each piece of art that they submit into the competition (to win $10,000). Also scheduled to be released in the next 90 days are the iPhone and iPAD apps “America’s Top Young Artist” and “Europe’s Top Artist”. “We believe that the greatest new talent is found via competitions that showcase up and coming stars, and give them a platform to showcase their greatness. This has been consistently proven with hit TV shows like “American Idol”, “America’s Got Talent”, “America’s Best Dance Crew”, and “So You Think You Can Dance”. "We are now bringing that same level of greatness and exposure to the art community.” Says co-founder Talor Zamir. Biocom Technologies, a leader in innovative consumer biomedical products, has announced the release of FitPal. The new iPhone application helps users get their functional capacity and personalized recommendations on optimal and safe exercise intensity for each workout.
FitPal uses iPhone built-in camera with flashlight to monitor user pulse and calculate user’s functional capacity and optimal level of exercise intensity for today’s workout. This helps to ensure the greatest possible health benefits while significantly lowering and controlling risks of overtraining. At any time users can instantly check their pulse with FitPal to make sure they are staying within the recommended heart rate zone. More information and demo video is available on http://www.fitpal.com. If you want to get some insights into how it works, FitPal measures the user’s pulse while establishing a benchmark as the cardiovascular system is challenged by moving from a sitting to standing position. Professional trainers and nurses refer to this action as a “stand-up,” and rely on the stand-up pulse rate to determine how well a person’s cardiovascular system is able to tolerate physical exercise. FitPal incorporates a special mathematical formula to evaluate the level of functional capacity. Then it chooses an adequate level of exercise intensity, in accordance with the guidelines of the American College of Sports Medicine. “FitPal can be used before and during exercising,” explains Alexander Bandarchuk, VP of Engineering for Biocom Technologies. “It utilizes technologies that have been proven over time and validated through research conducted on thousands of subjects, including top athletes. With FitPal users can take a full control of their workouts, contributing to exercise quality and, more importantly, to a sustained health and fitness.”

iPhone users are used to checking into places, TV shows, books and movies with applications like Foursquare, Facebook and GetGlue with the chance to earn stickers, badges or becoming a mayor – but none let users duel to the death to become King like social gaming iPhone app City King. City King transforms your local hot spots into battlegrounds by creating a game map based on your actual geographic location. Players check in to nearby locations using their iPhone’s location-based services to do battle with in-game monsters and compete against other local players for the highest score to earn the title of King. Users can also enlist the help of their friends by adding up to two friends as Sidekicks in a multi-player mode in battle using Facebook Connect. They can also purchase virtual goods to equip their avatar with weapons, potions and tools to aid their quest in ruling their land. Los Angeles based mobile app creator, Funton Games, developed this game as part of their mission to transform everyday real life into a digital playground that can connect people around the globe through play. “We wanted to create a game that would use the players actual surroundings to create an engaging fantasy world where they could compete with friends, neighbors and locals in an engaging and fun format and so City King was born”, says Stella Ju, VP of Marketing for Funton Games. Funton enlisted the help of an award winning designer from Italy to create the fun and colorful world of City King including the major manga inspired characters Blade Master and Demon Huntress. In addition, they worked with Gravity Music, best known for their work with top mobile games Battle Heart and OMG! Pirates, on the games soundtrack. To celebrate their recent launch, Funton Games is offering City King for free for a limited time only. The app can be downloaded from the App Store.
