Crowdfunding website, GoFundMe, announces monthly payment volume nearing $2M USD with monthly growth averaging 20% since October 2011 - forecasts yearly payment volume to exceed $37M USD in 2012. The company is entirely self-funded, having received no outside capital.

To celebrate its second year in business, the personal donation service has released a crowdfunding infographic detailing its usage data and impressive growth on its blog.

“We’re extremely fortunate to be in the business of doing good,” says GoFundMe CEO Brad Damphousse, “Our growth reflects most people’s desire to make a positive impact in someone else’s life.”

GoFundMe makes it easy for anyone to raise money online for personal causes such as medical expenses, youth sports fundraising, volunteering abroad - even help paying for pet surgeries. Within seconds, users can create their personal crowdfunding website and begin raising money online. There’s no time-limits or any need to reach a defined goal. Each payment a user receives is theirs to keep.

In one of many headline-grabbing examples, America’s tallest man raised over $46,000.00 USD for custom-tailored footwear using GoFundMe. Igor Vovkovinskiy’s fundraising campaign for shoes was featured on major media outlets across the US and around the World. He recently tweeted, “Thank you so much GoFundMe for everything you did for me. Only because of GoFundMe and my friends, was I able to raise money for shoes.”

“There’s something bigger going on here”, explains Damphousse, “...money has an immediate and impactful effect in someone’s life. GoFundMe empowers the masses to ‘vote with their dollar’ for the causes they care about most.”

GoFundMe’s crowdfunding infographic reveals its most popular areas of usage with medical fundraising campaigns accounting for 17% of user activity. Campaigns for school tuition costs and volunteer trips round out the top three categories with 11% and 10% respectively.

Launched on May 10, 2010, GoFundMe is one of the most widely used crowdfunding websites in the World. The service allows regular people to accomplish extraordinary things with easy-to-use personal donation websites. The site operates in The United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and European Union countries that use the Euro as their official currency.
